“What is there to steering a ship when it is being towed by a tug that determines its course?” Much more than you might think.
An English professor at Northern Kentucky University, Robert Wallace is passionate about Moby-Dick and about art. He has published four books on Melville and curated a variety of art exhibitions that respond to Melville’s work and to the natural world. He has also spent time as a deckhand on a tugboat in Puget Sound and has researched Makah whaling first-hand.
Eighty-five individuals from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds sailed aboard the ship and participated in an unprecedented public-history project, using their own perspectives and talents to document their experiences. Meet the Voyagers »
