Log: June 23, 1882

The CHARLES W. MORGAN was sailing on her 12th voyage off the coast of New Zealand, near popular whaling grounds.  The log entry for this day states, “First part weather very good wind about W   middle and Latter the same loosed sails to dry received from shore one boat load of wood an three Tons of Potatoes.”

Being out at sea for years at a time, fresh supplies were always welcome aboard a whaling ship.
