Log: June 16, 1886
The CHARLES W. MORGAN is just a day away from arriving home in New Bedford, MA which would complete her 12th voyage. The log entry for this day states, “Today we had thick fog & very light wind until 2 P M. when the fog lifting a little we made Point Judith bearing S.W. distance 10 Miles more or less. Therefore were off Newport R.I. The fog shut in again toward night, so had to lay off.”
