Log: August 3, 1885.

The CHARLES W. MORGAN was sailing on her 12th voyage off the coast of New Zealand.  The log entry for this day states, “First part fine weather wind light at one PM boat went on shore again and returned at dark.  After dark she went on shore again after some men promised to be on the reef to come off after dark returned at eleven PM with four men.  Middle part nearly calm ship standing off shore under all sail  Latter light air from SE ship by the wind on S tack”
