Log: June 14, 1886

The CHARLES W. MORGAN is just 3 days away from arriving home in New Bedford, MA on her 12th voyage.  The log entry for this day states, “Got S Whale   About day light this morning the wind hauled to S.E. being quite light, but toward noon it began to freshen out also to rain  Hove the Try works over board in the morning Ship steering N. At 4 ¼ P.M. saw a large School of Small Sperm Whales  lowered the three Boats and got one with the Bow Boat  took him along side at 7 P M took in light sails & steered N N. E  all night  Lat 38..57?”
