Log: May 31, 1898

The CHARLES W. MORGAN was sailing in the North Pacific near the coast of Japan on her 23rd voyage under command of Captain Thomas Scullun.  The log entry for this day states, “Begin with strong N.W. Wind Bk lay to under short sail  due the morning rain very hard  latter part Moderate some  we made sail at 12 clocks We Steering S.E. running before the wind under top sail  at night fine weather so end this day. Lat. 36..47  Long. 146..26”
