Log: July 20, 1868
The CHARLES W. MORGAN was sailing on her 8th voyage near Tahiti. The log entry for this day states, “First part fine weather Latter part squally all hands on board Employed in un riggin the Head gear around the Bow to git the iron work out to carry a shor to have repaird sent down the Fore sail & c Captain is a gaining fast*”
*About a week earlier on this voyage, the MORGAN’s Captain, George Athearn injured himself on his ankle causing a bad sore and then came down with a fever. Thanks to the help from a local Tahitian doctor he started recovering very quickly.
