The CHARLES W. MORGAN was sailing on her 8th voyage. Her captain, George Ahearn, had her sailing towards home in the North Atlantic. Her entry for the day states, “First part commences with a gale from WSW heading NW at sundown furled the Foresail   Middle part blowing  gale  Latter part strong breeze and hazy from SW heading WNW at daylight made sail
