The CHARLES W. MORGAN was sailing on her 23rd voyage off the coast of Japan.  Log entry for this day states, “Satturday Raised Schools Sperms Whale   Come in with light air from S.W. Bk heading S.E. on Starb tacks under short sail  due the time we boilling  in the Morning Raised schools sperms Whale louered 5 boat all struck but only safe 4 Whale We took along side let her lay until morning  due the day we store down oil so end.”
