My service on the Morgan’s 38th voyage has been varied and touched multiple departments at the seaport over a period of three years.
In 2012 I was working in the collection department with Chris White, Dayne Rugh and Catherine Cummings on preliminary work for the exhibit going to the Stillman building, assessing artifact (sic) and making recommendations for artifacts that would be appropriate to the exhibit.
In 2013 to May of 2014 I worked in both the education and interpretation department giving tours of the Morgan while in dry dock to both the overnight groups and day groups, and worked the grounds on launch day.
From May to June of 2014 I did tours of the Morgan for new London school kids while she was docked in New London.
I took a day sail on June 11th, Joach Coustos(sic) birthday. We were out from 9am until 1 pm and the experience is an unforgettable one.
From the 28th of June to the 30th I was in New Bedford MA, working with Spouter. It was an amazing experience and up to this part was one of the highlights of my career here at the seaport.
On 18th July I had the opportunity to work at Fenway park, Boston for the Morgan day hosted by the Boston Red Sox,
My Service for the 38th voyage concluded in the 6th of August when the Morgan returned home.
This was truly an amazing opportunity and time to work at Mystic Seaport… and for Maritime History. I truly hope that the 38th voyage is just the first of many in the 21st century. I hope one day to be able to bring my husband on a future voyage.
